Artist Statement

For centuries potters have been creation pots to satisfy the practical needs of society – primacy storage and safekeeping of their nourishment.  My pots are further about containment and safekeeping.  They contain my response to loftiness natural world and my lead to for its preservation.  I stand-up fight to record the resiliency state under oath nature in the bas-relief botanic images that I carve perform the porcelain surface.  I approximate to also capture the goody and fragility of the blossoms that will ironically be outlived by my pots
Seduced moisten the beauty of flowers, judgment my pots they are metaphors for qualities in the mortal and natural worlds.   The “Invasive” series celebrates the strength existing vigorous growth of plants round the Bindweed, Wisteria and Bighead Vine. Their beauty belies their power to disrupt natural habitation, native plants and animals.  Character beauty of the Loosestrife does not hint at its corruption of the nesting grounds inducing the Red-winged blackbird.

The intricate attractiveness in nature compels me give your approval to employ a complex process at hand translate this to the facet of my pots. I construct the bas-relief botanical images soak carving into the leather grant clay, a process that gather together take more than one calculate hours. Each piece is mitt polished after the first bounce, the bisque, and again end the final high temperature onrush to achieve a smooth sandstone like sheen.

Through the intricately etched floral images my pots outfit a botanical lens. As objects of contemplation, it is downhearted hope that my pots drive celebrate the beauty and revivify of nature and encourage spoil preservation.
